Your image does not show up, but others have said that mylot pays, however it would still be good to fix your screenshot, so that people will join under you.

THREE DOLLARS AN HOUR?! That is NOT 'making money' in the US - that is buying work! The minimum wage in this country is $5.15 per hour, and the employer has to match your retirement contributions taken from every paycheck!

There is no way that any American would even consider that 'making money' - that is giving your talent away for next to nothing!

Perhaps the costs of living are so much lower in India that you can afford to accept that low of a wage but where I live, a gallon of milk costs more than you earned in two hours. Americans cannot accept that low of earnings and still eat!

Many Americans have become angry at Indian workers - but it's not the Indians, it's the employers! Americans still buy the products, so they obviously aren't THAT angry! If so, they'd boycott the businesses that outsource, eh?

Alaskan's statement is true, but most of the jobs listed here would be considered part time net jobs, and are not really "hard." For a typical net user, they would probably do such a thing anyway, and they might as well profit a little from it. And money is money, no matter where you live. (even if it's only a small amount). BTW I live in the USA.

Oh and I've seen people (adults) who make about ~$4-5 an hour restocking things at a dollar store, which is a harder task. (In the USA)

Out of curiosity param, what is the minimum wage in India for most jobs, and what's the cost of living approximately?

Dear enlighted06:

Cost of living depends on the area where you are living. In villages you can live a normal life at 3k($67), in towns 5k($111), and in metros 10k (rupees)($222). One Dollar equals to 43-45 rupees. Here, there is no term like pay per hour, though there are incentives to work extra at pay per hour. Eight-hour shift is normal and lot of companies squeeze more work hours.

Wages also depends on the profession and on the place where you are doing the job. Same job in city pays less than the same job in metros or cosmopolis. It also depends on the company too. If it is a small organization , pay will be less that of in a large organization.

Due to the high exchange rate, lot of people looking to find the work from US. Though it is very less for you, it is a considerable amount for us. There are 'n' number of freelancers in medical transcription, web designing, BPO, KPO, etc working for less.

Lot of low-level jobs pay under 5k. IT jobs pay very high upto 40-50k per month.

As per, Indian Labor Bureau, minimum wage per day is less than Rs. 200 ($4.5) per day for lot of jobs as per their 2002 report. I think it is now around Rs. 300($6.7). There is no extensive info is available with them and they gathers info every five or 10 years and may not represent the actual standards. I know that in US, Federal Minimum Wage is $5.15 per hour. But it equals to a minimum wage per day in India.

With IT boom, call centers and outsourcing units, lot of people got jobs with good pay. These jobs have changed the lifestyles and also increased the cost of living.

Actually I think cost of living is higher in India when compared to the US. In the US basic necessities like food, power, gas, water etc are much much cheaper. Your buying power is much more than in India. What you can buy for say $10, we cannot even dream of in India.

However, the difference is this..... earning within India may be difficult at least on part time basis. Work at home is just picking up. Hourly rates have not yet come into vogue and even if they have, it is very low. When charged in US dollars and converted, it works out to a much higher sum as compared to the Indian rate. So naturally people are prepared to work for such low rates.

My personal opinion is....be it India or America, don't just trade your time very cheap. We must value our capabilities, quality of work and time...only then will the others respect the same.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I had no idea the wages were so low over there. In a way it's a bit similar to the USA. Depending on which state you live, the cost of living is either lower or higher. In the bigger cities like New York it's usually higher, but thus the wages are a bit higher as well.

The Internet helps break this barrier a bit though, especially for low waged countries like China, India, and South & Central America. They can make the same amount of $ (or more) for less work if they use it wisely.
